About Coastalville
Coastalville is a fictional city and community designed to support emergency management and leadership training in a safe and immersive training environment.
How it Started
While teaching Dickinson College’s Managing Complex Disasters Master’s Degree course, we were looking for an immersive disaster management training platform to use in the curriculum for the capstone tabletop exercise. Finding none, we set out to build Coastalville as an all-hazards, fictional city that was scalable and tailorable to meet emergency management, crisis response planning, decision-making, or leadership training experiential learning needs.
From that launch, the Coastalville Board of Advisors was assembled to build the City of Coastalville. Our board represents technical and subject matter experts with decades of senior leader crisis management, disaster and military and civilian law enforcement experience who are dedicated to providing the most comprehensive immersive training available.
